“Lonesome Dove” the miniseries, based on an adaptation of the novel of the same name, has to be one of the best examples of the western genre ever created. Written by Larry McMurtry, a Texas native and a great author of western lore, the novel is based on the concept of the Goodnight-Loving Trail and features the adventures of retired Texas Rangers in their efforts to drive cattle in the final years of the “old west.” The miniseries adaptation starred Tommy Lee Jones and Robert Duvall amongst an amazing supporting cast.
