Radio Show Sees if Contestants Can Tell When an Hour Has Passed in Isolation

By  |

Hamish & Andy host a radio show where they entertain listeners on their way home from work. The pair also puts together unusual segments, like when they held a contest where three contestants sat inside an isolation booth (or rather, a storage unit) without a watch, phone, or anything to occupy them. All the contestants had to do was hit a red button when they thought that one hour had passed. Whoever pressed the button closest to the goal time won $10,000!

Recently, Hamish & Andy uploaded an edited video of the hour-long contest to their YouTube page, and it’s surprisingly interesting to see the methods the three contestants used to determine time. Since there was no way to watch the sun, or zone out playing a game or watching videos, the three had to get creative. One man started out by keeping time on his leg, another used his chair to make time pass, and a woman sang a song over and over for a solid hour!

See the incredible focus the contestants maintained throughout the experiment below, and marvel at how close their times were. You can’t help but wonder what your own method of keeping time would be.
