After a reptile got a little too close for comfort with a Texas rancher’s cattle, he lassoed the 10-foot alligator allowing wranglers to crawl atop the thrashing beast. Their tussle resulted in one of the captors receiving minor injuries to his hand, however it was a situation that needed a quick and decisive response.

Convergent Hunting Solutions contact, Byron South, told the press that he received a call from landowner Hal Conover after an alligator broke into a pen he was using to wean calves. Conover would not settle for the alligator threatening his livestock so he also asked for additional help from local game wardens.

Bystanders shot video, which was then posted on Facebook by KLTV 7, of the wrangling near Hawkins, Texas, a town located approximately 100 miles east of Dallas. You can clearly see from the video that this gator thought he’d found a future feasting opportunity and he wasn’t going without a fight.

According to NBC DFW, in an interview with the Associated Press, South explained that Conover was able to toss a rope around the alligator. Then, two men climbed on top of the animal while it thrashed and actually bit one of the men on the hand. The 10-foot gator was then loaded into a trailer and transferred to a wildlife park.
