Texas Rangers Player Donates His Home to Camp Barnabas
Cole Hamels, known for pitching for the Texas Rangers, and his wife, Heidi, have generously donated their home to a nonprofit. Fox 4 News writes that their 32,000 square foot home and the 50-acre property in Branson, Missouri now belongs to Camp Barnabas. According to the Hamels Foundation, Camp Barnabas “…works with individuals with special needs and chronic illnesses.” The organization has helped over 75,000 people over the past 24 years.
Cole warmly stated, “Seeing the faces, hearing the laughter, reading the stories of the kids they serve; there is truly nothing like it. Barnabas makes dreams come true, and we felt called to help them in a big way.”
ESPN writes that the Hamels originally bought the Missouri home (which is near where Cole grew up) to be their dream home, but once Cole was traded from the Philadelphia Phillies to the Rangers, they found themselves living in Texas and not visiting their Missouri estate.
If you pop over to Realtor.com, you can still see photos of the property with beautiful dense clusters of trees and a mansion that was only completed fairly recently in 2016. The estate was priced at $9,418,400 when the couple decided to donate it.
