In 1993, Willie Nelson was inducted into the Country Music Hall of Fame in a beautiful ceremony, including a heartfelt introduction by fellow Highwayman, Johnny Cash.

As of then, only 53 musicians had been inducted in the Country Music Hall of Fame, and though Johnny jokes that with all of Willie’s talents he could counted as four different people, Willie Nelson is one extremely talented man.

Willie looks proudly on, sans his classic braids, as a montage of his famous duets follow on screen. From Paul Simon to Bob Dylan to Dolly Parton, Nelson’s famous duets give us goosebumps even now watching this footage again.

His magnetic voice, his classic American style, and his lyricism will forever mark American country music. Johnny Cash even breaks out in small song to the tune of Willie’s famous, “Always On My Mind”.

The best part of the montage? It has to do with Willie’s exceptional humanitarian efforts, especially his Farm Aid concerts, which broke new ground in the farming community in this country.

Watch the video below to see the rest of the performances and Willie Nelson’s heartfelt, yet still joking speech, beginning with the best joke ever, “I really thought you had to die to get here.”
