It’s not every day that a movie star comes into a nonprofit as a volunteer to get their hands dirty, so when Lois Rodriguez looked up from a pile of dirty laundry at Austin Pets Alive and spotted none other than Renée Zellweger, she did a double take. But once she heard Zellweger’s sweet voice, she knew for sure who her volunteer partner was.

KVUE reports that Zellweger flew in from Los Angeles in order to volunteer at Austin Pets Alive for three days. “Besides laundry, we cleaned crates, did afternoon dog reinforcement snacks/treats, and she did a lot of transport of goods and animals before I came in for my shift. No glam,” Rodriguez wrote on her Facebook page.

The two made the most of their work for the organization. “We were ‘Speed Queens,’ turning our task into the Laundry Olympics, high-fiving our great accomplishments, honing our fitted-sheet folding skills and gabbing for hours — just the two of us,” Rodriguez told KVUE. She added that Zellweger told her she got her pup, Dylan, while she was a student in Austin and worked at an animal shelter.
