Situated nicely in the Texas Hill Country, the city of San Antonio has a timeless beauty, which is reflected in its architecture, surroundings, and citizens. At the heart of the city is the River Walk – a series of walking paths along the banks of the San Antonio River. Line by stores, restaurants, and beautiful landscaping, the River Walk is a destination for tourists and locals alike that beckons you on a sunny day and comforts you in its riverside cafes and bars during inclement weather.
Sitting below street level, pedestrians are safe to traverse this walkway without worry of interfering with traffic as they sightsee. The city has worked hard to ensure its parallel passages connect its major tourist attractions, including the Alamo, the historic missions (which have been named a UNESCO World Heritage Site), the Pearl, the San Antonio Museum of Art, HemisFair Park, La Villita, and the Shops at Rivercenter.
