Rodney Carrington is just a good old boy with a cowboy hat and a slew of comedy routines and recordings filled with the very type of humor your folks wouldn’t let you listen to when you were young. And, with “Here Comes the Truth,” he cracks the crowd up once again with his latest songs and a few choice words of wisdom based on his personal experiences (at least we think that’s what they’re based on) conveniently bleeped out every now and then.

“The Marriage Advice Song” and “I’m Gonna Get a Pop Tart” are reflections of those experiences and having recorded the comedy concert special at the BOK Center in Tulsa in 2016, you can quickly tell his audience loves it. At the height of Netflix appeal, and in the midst of touring the nation, Carrington will be bringing his latest work to Texas in December and January, beginning with Abilene at the end of the former, and moving on to Beaumont and Austin in the latter.

His comedy touches on some personal matters, which Carrington reflects on with his own brand of humor, including weight gain and divorce, fatherhood and friendships. In an interview with Tulsa World in October, Carrington said, “We think life is going to be one way, and then it’s nothing that we really expected. But with comedy, I’m doing something that I love, and I’m enjoying things now more than ever.” His raunchy and sarcastic jokes have carved out a great following in his career, and if his tour date sales are any indication, there’s no slowing down anytime soon. “You realize it’s going to end at some point, and you better enjoy it while you have it. I have great friends, a great relationship with all three of my boys, and I’m pretty content going on tour and seeing people I know already like me,” he explained. His upcoming Texas show dates and opportunities to purchase tickets are available at the link provided here, if you’re looking for a fun (albeit explicit) night out. His DVDs and CDs are available here, and if you’d like to hear “Here Comes the Truth” firsthand, it’s available on iTunes and Amazon!
