Rogers and Hammerstein’s ‘Cinderella’ Comes to Austin

By  |

Cinderella has had little girls twirling around in princess dresses from what seems like the beginning of time. Grand imaginations take them to a place where birds sing, mice talk, and a fairy godmothers turns a pumpkin into a magical carriage that whisks them away to meet their one and only Prince Charming. It’s a fantasy that even into adulthood, little girls never really let go of. From rags to riches, true love prevails. It’s a story that is told in a variety of ways, but Rogers and Hammerstein’s version is sure to take this magical story to a whole new level.

Rogers and Hammerstein’s “Cinderella” will be in Austin from December 6-11, 2016 at the Bass Concert Hall. It is there that you will see the tale of a chambermaid rise to the top, glass slippers and all. Motley Crew Media says it best in their press release, “More than just a pretty face with the right shoe size, this Cinderella is a contemporary figure living in a fairytale setting. She is a spirited young woman with savvy and soul who doesn’t let her rags or her gowns trip her up in her quest for kindness, compassion and forgiveness. She longs to escape the drudgery of her work at home and instead work[s] to make the world a better place. She not only fights her own dreams, but forces the prince to open his eyes to the world around him and realize his dreams too.”
