A Hill Country Gem: Rough Diamond Brewery

By  |

Yearning for something beyond the norm, yet also supportive of local industry? One brewery near Spring Branch fits the bill. Located at 101 Kendalia Circle, between Highway 281 and the town of Kendalia, Rough Diamond Brewery was founded by Costa Synodinos, a Greece-born native of South Africa, whose background includes working in international diamond mines. Rough Diamond’s name is a nod to his history and to the true quality of the beer produced, while the logo exemplifies the brewery’s connection to its home in the Texas Hill Country. It features the Twin Sisters, the natural peaks visible from the brewery, cradling a diamond as it would be found in its unearthed state.  Additionally, the name refers to the unprocessed beauty which saturates this area.

Rough Diamond Brewery is located on 6.5 acres of land, with 16,000 sq. feet of production and warehouse space and an onsite tap room with over 1,500 sq. feet to enjoy the regular, seasonal, and experimental lines of beer. Taste-wise, you will find the crafts to boost a unique marriage of local and global ingredients, which meld during a dynamic brewing process and are all produced in a highly controlled and sanitized environment.
