Texan Records Video of Runaway Horse Galloping Down Highway
Around 6 p.m. on Saturday headed eastbound on IH 610, a runaway horse with no rider was seen galloping down the highway. The sight was both funny and alarming. Houstonian Christopher McKelvey caught part of the scene on his phone, and the video has gone viral on Facebook with more than 12,750 shares and 4,000 likes and 726,500 views.
Though McKelvey joked about horsepower and low gas milage in his video, he had the creature’s best interest in mind. Upon seeing that the horse was panicked, he told KPRC 2 that he “got some of the other drivers to slow down a little bit. We kinda’ eased it over to the side. We created a line.”
Another driver called the Houston Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals, and eventually the horse was found and reunited with its owner with the help of police. It took a community effort to help the confused animal whose hooves could be heard hitting the highway while McKelvey filmed. Who knows what the horse was thinking, but we’re so glad it’s home safe and sound after its late night adventure imitating a wild Mustang.
