Of the variety of products that we set aside entire national days for, not to mention festivals, beer is certainly worthy of such lauding. Many of you may have previously attended such affairs, but none, we expect, designed to the extent that one such event encompasses. Translation: there’s a lot of beer involved here. The call of the cicerone has been answered in the Texas Hill Country with the hosting of the 13th annual San Antonio Beer Festival on Saturday, October 20. The event benefits the San Antonio Food Bank. Sommeliers rejoice (and prepare thyselves for profuse “professional” tasting!).

A festival in honor of that (sometimes) golden, (always) refreshing beverage that pairs so well with our love of football, friends, and all things fun is happening in Texas. It’s designed to showcase a plethora of craft and microbreweries throughout the state. You’ll be surprised at the sheer number of such entities! Plus, the breweries anticipated to attend this event each bring with them their own styles, flavors, and stories behind every flight that a guest will want to sample.

Among those pouring, serving with a smile, and expounding the glories of each beer available, Real Ale Brewing Co. will be on hand. Enjoy their two-plus decades of experience and time-honored brewing tradition! Having no artificial colors and zero preservatives, Real Ale Brewing Co.’s product is wonderfully uncomplicated. It has the full body, flavor, and aroma you would expect from a complex beer, minus the complex processing. Pouring from selections of their extensive beer list, this Blanco brewery features everything a connoisseur could fancy, from favorites they generate year-round to limited offerings.

Also present for this noteworthy event will be the New Braunfels Brewing Company. As another great representative of the Texas Hill Country and the Lone Star State in its efforts to craft a beer worthy of calling itself Texan, this brewery stands out. With five successful years under their belt and countless releases to their name, those who know them, love them, and those who don’t are in for a surprise. They work in liquid art and brew outside the lines, so beer drinkers can experience a life less ordinary!

The San Antonio Beer Festival is so much more than a flight of beers and some quick food pairings, however. It’s more than 400 premium and craft beers from over 125 breweries, not just from Texas, but from around the world! It’s also music, games, food trucks and booths, wines and ciders, local vendors and so much more. If you’re unsure about your knowledge of beer as compared to other festivalgoers you see as aficionados, not to worry. A curated group of craft beers will be available in a special H-E-B tasting for those who want a unique experience, and specialty tapping times are scheduled for still more. The event is being held at Dignowity and Lockwood Parks, and festival details, including parking, general info, and where to get tickets, are available at the event website link provided here. Those of you who make the trip are sure to have your taste for beer satiated and your thirst for a great beer festival in the Texas Hill Country slaked!
