San Antonio Was Ranked #1 Cougar Town

PlentyofFish or POF.com is a dating site that has been connecting people online since 2003. The company recently released results from a survey they gave to 500 female users of their site. With the data, they determined the “Top 10 U.S. Cougar Towns,” with San Antonio coming in at number one.

According to Psychology Today, the term “cougar” became popular in 2001 as a way to describe a woman over 40 who prefers to date younger men. Cougars are usually characterized as fun, youthful looking, financially independent and well-educated.

MySA.com reports that PlentyofFish ranked five major Texas cities near the top of the “Top 10 U.S. Cougar Towns” list,  “including Houston, Dallas, Fort Worth and El Paso,” but San Antonio ran away with the top spot.

An official from PlentyofFish stated, “…almost 30 percent of women said the benefit of dating a younger man is, it’s purely physical and fun,” but a few other reasons were listed as well. Some “cougars” believe that age is meaningless and others just like the energy that younger men have.
