Recently, ValuePenguin, a data/finance company, released their list of the best U.S. cities to raise a family, and Texas reigned supreme when it came to the Top 10 and the overall list itself.

Of 156 cities ranked, 12 Texas cities made the list: Austin, Dallas, Houston, San Antonio, Corpus Christi, Amarillo, El Paso, Waco, Lubbock, Brownsville, Abilene, and Wichita Falls.

Austin was voted No. 1, while Dallas followed in second place. Houston ranked in at No. 5, and San Antonio landed at 14. As far as the Top 10 is concerned, Texas dominated the rankings.

So just what was this study based on? From ValuePenguin, “we considered 16 data points from eight sources and interviewed three experts…[ranking] from economics and education to safety and healthcare and beyond.” The data points were compared against each other to create a mean, and it would seem that Texas clearly stood above and beyond on multiple counts.

The list is also broken down into sub-lists, from Best Weather to Best Commute. Wichita Falls was No. 5 on the Best Commuting Cities sub-list, while Austin landed in third on the Best Education/Environment Quality sub-list. Wichita Falls and Abilene also came in second and third, respectively, on the Best Cities for Buying a Home sub-list.

Congratulations, Texas! We still got it, that’s for sure.
