San Antonio’s Malt House is a diamond in the rough for many, having served burgers, malts and — you guessed it — Mexican food to locals for more than a half-century.

The old-timey diner was rumored to have been closing shop, as recently as earlier this week. Panic ensued across social media channels, as eulogies began being written and rage permeated through the comments section of underfed Facebook users, decrying the untimely shutter of their favorite S. Zarzamora comfort food spot.

Hold onto your britches.

Thankfully, those rumors have proven to be untrue. The restaurant has posted an update on their Facebook page after the uproar stirred on social media, saying that the popular restaurant with muy bueno menu pricing will only be shuttered for 90-days.

In an effort to improve customer’s satisfaction, the company says, they are remodeling and are “sorry for the inconvenience.”

So it may be springtime before you can grab yourself a Fat Boy hamburger again.

Frank Garza, part of the Malt House staff, put it bluntly to MySanAntonio: “We don’t have time for that rumor right now.”
