Yesterday marked the beginning of what has become known as “Meat Week” in San Antonio, created by organizers as a play on the old pub crawl and a sort of miniature food festival.

Sound cool?

The celebration features a meat crawl where carnivorous friends gather at various locations around the city to see what new offerings established meat vendors might have in store.

Yesterday music by Yesterbeard delighted fans of great food and good vibes at B-Daddy’s Barbecue, and tonight the crawl moves to Harmon’s Barbecue on Main St. before moving to Burnt Ends for tomorrow’s gathering.

Eleven other cities are participating in the event, but San Antonio plays host to the only Texas chapter. The official website for the organizers offers up barbecue movies and short features on the establishments being showcased in the 2016 iteration.

For more details on the ‘national holiday’ and on how to meating-up, check out the Meat Week San Antonio’s Facebook page. Festivities cap off with a Super Bowl watching party on Sunday at the Alamo Ice House.
