This Texas gem is family-owned. “Bobby and Karen Eggemeyer began their original store, the County Depot, in 1983 in Wall,” shares their website. In 1988, they moved the general store to San Angelo where, along with their three children, they began to grow the business from the ground up.
The family did most of the work themselves. “From sandblasting the burned ceiling to laying floors… Of the three Eggemeyer kids, the youngest, Eric, is a full-time employee for the business,” mentions their website. It’s a true sentiment to the spirit of entrepreneurship that has built its success by capturing the hearts of visitors and its community for decades with its nostalgic treasures, and it’s still going strong.
