This Texas gem is family-owned. “Bobby and Karen Eggemeyer began their original store, the County Depot, in 1983 in Wall,” shares their website. In 1988, they moved the general store to San Angelo where, along with their three children, they began to grow the business from the ground up.

The family did most of the work themselves. “From sandblasting the burned ceiling to laying floors… Of the three Eggemeyer kids, the youngest, Eric, is a full-time employee for the business,” mentions their website. It’s a true sentiment to the spirit of entrepreneurship that has built its success by capturing the hearts of visitors and its community for decades with its nostalgic treasures, and it’s still going strong.

Eggemeyer’s is a one-stop shop for baked goods, home decor, jewelry, souvenirs, but during Christmas, it turns into a Santa’s wonderland of exquisite ornaments, Christmas decorations, and honey glazed hams with a secret honey glaze recipe created by its owner Bobby.

The shop is a sort of miracle on 36 E. Concho Ave. in San Angelo, Texas. It’s guaranteed to take your breath away as you indulge yourself among its unique treasures you won’t find anywhere else.

Eggemeyer’s General Store fall hours are Monday through Saturday from 9:30 a.m. to 6 p.m. and the store is open on Sunday in December from 1-5 p.m. To preorder a ham, call 325-655-1166, shares its website. For more on Eggemeyer’s General store visit its website at www.eggemeyers.com
