The first settlers to land in Schertz, Texas was in 1843. They began growing crops of all kinds, from wheat and oats, to corn. Schertz is home to one of the largest parades/festivals in Southern and Central Texas, the Schertz Fourth of July Jubilee. The event is all about honoring the men and women that serve our Country. The annual SchertzFest features a variety of beverages and food, and live performances every September.
The community of Schertz is very passionate about parks and recreation. Their public parks feature a Junior Olympic-sized swimming pool, playgrounds, picnic areas, and lighted basketball courts.
