Schlitterbahn Galveston Denies Mother’s Claims That Park Gave Her Kids Staph

By  |

A Texas mom claims that a trip to Schlitterbahn Galveston gave her two children strep/staph infections. She posted two photos of the children’s skin issues on Facebook and urged readers to not go to the water park. The mom added that the doctor who treated her kids at UTMB says they have seen similar cases lately from people who swam at Schlitterbahn.

Galveston County’s Health Department and Schlitterbahn are looking into the claims and already have a few responses. Health officials in Galveston say that they contacted UTMB who denies the claims that many people have visited due to infections from the water park, and they’re looking into what the doctor told the concerned mother.

Schlitterbahn is reassuring visitors that they test their water throughout the day and use plenty of chlorine. They have gotten in contact with the family to attempt to clear up the muddy waters between them.

Through the power of social media, the photos of the children’s infections have been shared roughly 88,000 times. Some people have even posted that the park has closed. Schlitterbahn’s response, on the other hand, has been shared about 4,500 times. They are assuring potential visitors that the park is still open and has been deemed safe.
