According to KSAT, an investigation is in process after officers inside the San Antonio Police Headquarters building said they heard gunshots hitting the building just before 10 p.m. on July 9, 2016. An area in front of the building has been taped off.  Officers have found at least one area that appears to have been impacted and it has been reported that at least one shell casing was found. KSAT reports that a suspect has been detained. This is an ongoing investigation, and very little detail is available at this time. Visit KSAT’s website for further updates.

With the tragic shooting of 12 police officers and 2 civilians, leaving 5 officers dead, tensions are high among the law enforcement community. Since the Dallas shooting, which happened only two days ago, there have been reports of shootings aimed at law enforcement in Missouri, Tennessee, and Georgia. Police departments around the nation are taking extra measures to ensure the safety of their officers due to the recent violence towards officers and various threats directed at police agencies throughout the country.
