Six Flags Fiesta Texas has decided that the Scooby-Doo Ghostblasters attraction will effectively be closed on January 7, which is the final day of their event entitled “Holiday in the Park.” Ruh-roh! Fans of Scooby and the gang better get while the getting’s good.
The rolling video game with the Scooby-Doo theme originally opened in 2002. Now 15 years old, no longer will passengers be able to try for a high score by shooting ghosts and other such targets with light guns while they ride their carts through a haunted mansion setting (one which resembles so many in the famous cartoons.)
In a statement by the park, it explains, “the current location will become the future home to the latest dark ride innovation later in 2018.” “Dark ride” is a term used by amusement parks specific to attractions that allow guests to be transported through an indoor environment (i.e., Disneyland’s “It’s a Small World” ride.)
Six Flags Fiesta Texas will be open daily through January 7. According to their website, “Holiday in the Park” is a special event which is being hosted from November 18 until the final noted date, celebrating the “…most magical time of the year filled with enchanting experiences that will help create those special family fun outings again and again. Our breathtaking winter wonderland features a variety of delightful and interactive activities to help capture the holiday spirit.” Get out to the park to catch the last of the Scooby-Doo Ghostblasters attraction before it gets retired for good!
