Overnight packages are available for wanna-be oil barons to stay at the legendary Southfork Ranch in Parker, Texas. Guests can sleep in J.R., Bobby, Lucy or Sue Ellen’s bedroom at the Ewing clans’ legendary ranch home. Southfork found international fame during the long-running “Dallas” TV series (1978-1991) on CBS.

Nobody ever played a villain better than Larry Hagman as J.R. Ewing. His ruthless, scheming oil tycoon was so despicable that wife Sue Ellen (Linda Gray) turned to drinking. Good brother Bobby (Patrick Duffy) couldn’t change him, and one of J.R.’s mistresses (played by Cathy Crosby) finally shot him. “Who Shot J.R.?” became one of the most-watched cliffhangers in TV history.

As the scene of numerous Ewing family showdowns and shootouts, the iconic ranch has offered popular group events and tours for years now. But this is the first opportunity fans have been given to wallow in luxury like a “real” Ewing.

However, staying at Southfork is not for the budget-minded. This “once-in-a-lifetime” chance to live like an oil baron costs $1,978 for two people. For this price, guests gain access to the entire mansion and pool.

Featured in the guest package are private tours of the mansion and ranch, plus champagne and hors d’oeuvres, followed by “J. R.’s Steak Dinner.” Screenings of “Dallas” in the Ewing living room are included, along with popcorn and snacks.

The next morning, enjoy a home-cooked Texas-style breakfast at the Ewing family’s poolside patio table. An official souvenir wine glass is included, and an optional trail ride is also available.

The package is promoted as an “unforgettable romantic getaway, proposal, wedding night, anniversary, or other special occasion opportunity.” For those more like the Ewings, who prefer to have all the family around them all the time, guests are permitted. Additional guests are welcome at $400 a person, up to a total of six people.
