The network of small towns which form the makeup of the Texas Hill Country are enjoyable, to say the least, and a dream to get to and explore. Taylor Barnes, the editor of Rave Reviews, thinks so as well saying, “Dotted along the hills, plains, and winding country roads are small towns with plenty of personality and Texas pride, ready to welcome visitors in. Texas Hill Country towns are proud of their heritage and history and love to share a piece of who they are.”

The site’s selection process for this list was derived from triangulated data, compiling 30 towns, excluding San Antonio and Austin. The data resulted from list articles as well as what they deemed to be reputable travel journalism from TexasHillCountry.com, Southern Living, Wide Open Country, Texas Monthly, National Geographic, and the New York Times. Gleaning detail from nostalgia, popularity, nature, as well as food and fun, they compiled their listing of small-town treasures that native Texans, Tex-pats, and tourists would all love to see. Their list includes the Luckenbach Dance Hall ranked as number one, Enchanted Rock State Natural Area listed in second place, and Main Street in the town of Fredericksburg in third.
