The Smithsonian Will Pay One Person Over $60K a Year to Drink Beer
How does the title of “Craft Beer Historian” at The Smithsonian Museum in Washington, D.C. sound to you? The position will pay $64,000 a year along with obvious bragging rights that you have one of the coolest jobs in America.
You better hurry if you want to submit a resume. Applications for the position should be completed by August 10th. Though everyone must keep in mind, there’s more than simply loving beer required.
ABC 13 reported that the job, funded by the Brewers Association, will go to someone who has an “‘advanced degree’ in American business, brewing, food or history, and must have ‘proven experience in scholarly research, organizing and conducting oral history interviews, writing for both scholarly and general audiences, and knowledge of material culture and archival materials.'”
Once someone snags the position, it will last three glorious years where the employee will travel, interview, write, research and drink. Their findings will provide insight into why breweries have become so popular in the United States and how our tastes have changed over the years. All of their hard work will accumulate into exhibits like Smithsonian’s “Food History Project.”
It’s hard to not already feel a little bit jealous of the person who gets this amazing and interesting job!
