Unbelievable Smoked Brisket Burgers Found at Jennie’s in Fredericksburg

By  |

Texas is filled with beautiful small towns boasting bustling main streets. One of our most famous main streets is in Fredericksburg which is a great place to shop, eat, drink, and see the sites. But be sure you don’t miss the hidden gems just beyond view. One such example is Jennie’s Smoked Burgers and Tornado Fries. Located behind the road-facing building at 319 E. Main St., Jennie’s can be found by taking the side alley to find yourself in a cozy, no-frills establishment designated as #B. The menu here is simple: smoked brisket burgers, Black Angus sirloin hot dogs, tornado fries (which are similar to potato chips and served on a skewer), onion rings, fountain drinks, lemonade, beer, wine, and sangria.

Having such a modest menu allows for quality food made quickly. The brisket is ground fresh daily, hamburgers and fries are made to order with fresh ingredients, the burger buns are toasted to order, the iceberg lettuce is leafed by hand, and the tomatoes and onions are sliced freshly each morning.

Service is always friendly here too! Begun in 2015 by a local Texas family, it did not take long for Jennie’s to become a favorite. Seating is available inside and outside; hours are Wednesday through Monday 11 a.m. to 8 p.m., closed on Tuesdays. It is advisable to park on Main Street or off a side road, as there are only a few parking spots in front of the restaurant, with one handicap designation. Order at the counter and wait for your name to be called to experience comestible bliss. And be sure to grab plenty of napkins! This place is well known amongst locals and can get quite crowded during nice weather at lunchtime. Any order can also be taken to go if you want to walk down to the Vereins Kirche and sit outside. Enjoy this off Main Street treat!
