The Social Motion Skills Program is a premier facility in Houston, providing assistance through social skills, training and mastery of mainstream activities – for children, adolescents, and adults with social & learning deficits including ADD/ADHD and autism spectrum disorders shares its website. They offer classes and activities for students from 5-45 years of age, while also providing activities and solutions to assist families and businesses.

Wendy Dawson, Founder & Executive Director of Social Motion Skills, was looking “for social skills classes geared to high-functioning children on the spectrum.” “They were searching for a program with just pure social skills training focused on personal development, judgment, decision-making and the opportunity to practice those skills in a safe environment,” shares Dawson on their website.

Without any solutions or assistance being found through any programs, in 2010 they founded Social Motion Inc., classified as a 501(c)(3) non-profit serving greater Houston.

When her stepson was diagnosed with PDD-NOS at the age of two, she made it her mission to bring what was once missing to assist in their son’s own life to other families looking for the same. Many have found this program a haven and heaven sent to assist with their children’s everyday lives and future.

“My son, who was diagnosed with ADHD and Asperger’s, has attended Social Motion for two years now and the progress he has made has been tremendous. The development of his social skills was key in his interactions with classmates which was a much-needed confidence booster going into middle school. It was also helpful in how he learned to handle negative social interactions such as embarrassing feedback and bullying.”
