Well, since the Cowboys and the Texans lost the playoffs, what’s a girl to do on a weekend? Road trip time! And what better destination than the quiet, sweet little town of Luckenbach, Texas. It is the epitome of what is right and perfect and awesome about Texas. This little gem in the Hill Country is sure to become a destination repeat.

Nestled just outside of Fredericksburg, Texas, this small town boast a whopping population of three! Yes, three people actually call Luckenbach home, or at least they did when the sign was made. But don’t be fooled by the population size. This little Texas beauty is the place to be for dancehall shuffles, family retreats, and the occasional bachelorette party. Based on their website, luckenbachtexas.com, it looks like they had one heck of a New Year’s Eve Party. But the party isn’t stopping there.

Founded in the 1880s by German immigrants, Luckenbach has seen the rise and fall of its little town in the last hundred or so years. It is still some kinda special in Texas. It is especially known for its great country music and wonderful picnics. Jerry Jeff Walker put Luckenbach back on the map when he recorded his live album, Viva Terlingua, in the dancehall in 1973. And it has been a country music destination ever since.

Imagine, if you can, being part of the Guinness World record for the most guitar players play all at once for more than five minutes. The record was broken with the when 1,868 guitarists all played that unforgettable song by Waylon Jennings and Willie Nelson. “Luckenbach, Texas (Back to the Basics of Love)” was a hit despite Jennings not actually liking the song when he first recorded it.

There are so many exciting things happening this year in Luckenbach. The Valentine’s Ball and Hug In will surely help you find the love basics again. You can camp there all weekend and hear some great live country music. If you need to dust off those cowboy boots, be a part of the DanceHall Tour in March. There is always something special happening in Luckenbach. You are sure to find something just right for you.

So, grab your honey or plan a weekend trip with friends and head on out to this special little town. Shop at the store, boot-scoot around the dance floor, and enjoy a real piece of Texas. Luckenbach will help you relax, kick back and get away from it all. You’ll be treated like family and make wonderful Texas memories, because as they say in Luckenbach, “Everybody is Somebody, in Luckenbach Texas.”
