Southwest and Allegiant Offering Free Flights for Las Vegas Victims

By  |

“Our Southwest Hearts are with everyone affected by the tragedy in Las Vegas,” NBC DFW quotes a recent official statement from Southwest Airlines. Southwest has teamed up with MGM Resorts in the wake of the shooting to offer free flights and accommodations for those who are trying to get to their family members impacted by the event. According to the report, those seeking flights and rooms are advised to call (702)-692-2300 or toll-free at 1-888-634-7111.

MGM Resorts owns the Mandalay Bay hotel where the shooter was staying, but they also own 11 other properties along the strip. CNN Money explains that they will house victims’ families at the Bellagio on the other side of the strip.

Allegiant Airlines, a Las Vegas-based company, is also stepping up during this heartbreaking time. They, too, will offer families of shooting victims free flights to come and support their loved ones. “Allegiant spokeswoman Hilarie Grey said families need to email Allegiant at [email protected] to make arrangements,” USA Today explains.

Allegiant also allowed those who planned on traveling to Las Vegas this week to change their plans entirely without penalty. They stated that they understand the anxiety many would feel about their vacation right after such an awful event, so they allowed for last minute cancellations.
