On Sunday April 17, 2016, the San Antonio Spurs tip-off game one of the 2015-2016 playoff season against the Memphis Grizzlies at the AT&T Center in San Antonio, Texas.
With the “Big Three”, Tim Duncan (21), Manu Ginobili (20), and Tony Parker (9), and the leadership of Head Coach, Gregg Popovich, the Spurs earned NBA championship titles in 1999, 2003, 2005, 2007, and again in 2014 and are on the road to secure the next NBA Championship title for 2016. Coach Popovich came to the San Antonio Spurs in 1996 and has spent his whole coaching career with them. One truly unique part of the Spurs history is the hiring of Becky Hammon as assistant coach hired in 2014, who became the first full-time salaried female assistant coach in NBA history. Under the leadership of a dynamic team, the Spurs are holding the standing of number two in the Western Conference Southwestern Division for 2016, second only to the Golden State Warriors (W 73-L-9), the Spurs have had an incredible season of 67 wins and 15 losses overall and 40 games won on home court with one loss.
This playoff season will be an exciting year not only for the “Big Three” but also for the rookies on the team: Kyle Anderson (1) with two years of experience, Boban Marjanovic (40) with one year experience, and Jonathon Simmons (17) with one year experience. Congratulations to the San Antonio Spurs for again making it into the Western Conference Southwestern Division playoffs and good luck on your road to victory for the NBA Championship Title.
