Scattered throughout the World Wide Web are stories that will boggle the mind and astound the imagination. None so much, however, as details about Bigfoot sightings. Of course, Texas is no stranger to its share of odd accounts, one of which was recited third-hand from Paris, in Lamar County. Do you believe this Texas bigfoot story?
As the story goes, it was summertime, and the kids were out of school, spending time at the lake and trying to keep cool. The individual who had the Bigfoot experience explained that there was a trail leading behind their house, going through the woods to the lake in question. The kids would use the mile-long trail after their chores were done, staying at the lake until dusk. One Friday evening, after a day of swimming, she was on her way back through the trail home as the sun was setting. She began to have an uneasy feeling, and after about a quarter of the way along, she heard a short snorting sound. With the absence of the usual chorus of crickets and frogs, the noise made her feel even more unsure. Following a few more steps, she heard a deep grunt, which stopped her immediately.

She continued toward home despite her fear, hearing footsteps alongside her in the process. After stopping once more, at which time she heard three more steps and another low grunt, she began to proceed even faster toward home. Upon hearing more steps behind her, she stopped, spun around, and saw something almost indescribable. Around 15 feet away, she claimed, a creature had paused as well, standing in the trail and staring. She believed it was about eight feet tall and four feet shoulder-to-shoulder. She screamed at the sight, and the Texas bigfoot tilted its head, much like a puzzled dog would do. The girl began backing slowly away. The Texas bigfoot grunted like an ape and took a step forward, then the girl screamed again, threw her bag at the creature, and ran for her life.

The stories of Bigfoot sightings and experiences such as this in Texas actually abound! In support of the concept that such a beast could exist, not to mention all the folklore surrounding him (or her, as it may be…), a Texas Bigfoot Research Center has been established, and it’s no slouch in the online follower department. Likewise, the Bigfoot Field Researchers Organization (or BFRO) keeps a website that documents all known Texas Bigfoot sightings. With just one click, you can see the most current Bigfoot sightings here in the Lone Star State, including a list of counties from which reports have been made.
Has anyone you know had what they believe to be a Bigfoot sighting?
