Where to Stay

In terms of places to stay, Fredericksburg has a vast array. From the standard hotels (your Holiday Inns, your Super 8’s, etc.) to full-on retreats, bed & breakfasts, and beautiful inns, your selection doesn’t wane with each online click. As an example, there’s a tiny farmhouse situated on six acres, surrounded by peach and pecan orchards that are a gem of the retreat, and well within a mile of the main shopping area. You can sit back with a coffee on the porch and catch the Texas Hill Country sunrise while a rooster crows! Or pick a setting where you’re catered to in the highest form, get yourself some chef-prepared meals, and settle into a hot tub to soak your cares away while watching the same sun settle behind those same hills. There are many places to pick from, and here’s a link for some basic reviews.

Good (scratch that: great!) food is a “must” when you’re on a relaxing weekend away. It makes the entire trip, honestly. So while you’re in Fredericksburg, don’t be afraid to try something new, or at the very least, try a new place that catches your eye and serves you the mainstays. German (of course), Mexican, Italian, the gangs all here! Not to mention some great and inspired American dishes in places that would surprise you. There’s a classic 40’s-style diner, fantastic fine dining, some good greasy spoons, and an assortment of options that won’t leave you hungry. TripAdvisor has provided a handy link that shows the array of top places to eat according to local comments.

Now the play part is pretty wide open. There’s really no shortage of things to do in Fredericksburg. There are beautiful roadside markets for local fresh produce (when in season) that do double duty in the off-season as showrooms for specialty products and sometimes cool cooking demonstrations. There are wineries galore in the immediate vicinity, allowing you to taste an exceptional array of vintages from local vineyards. And the shopping can’t be beat! More than 150 stores are awaiting you. Spas, live entertainment, the great outdoors, and so much more; all waiting to become a tailor-made trip for you, yourself, and I, or a group of friends and family to make the most of! The town has a wonderful website designed to highlight all there is to see and do, the link for which is provided here. So take some time to relax and see what Fredericksburg can offer. It’s beautiful “burg” in the Texas Hill Country to stay, eat, and play at!
