Over 4K Pounds of Beef Stew Products Sold at H-E-B This Month Recalled
If you purchased Swift Beef Co. products in Texas in the recent past, you might want to take a look at the labels before you dig in or add the ingredients to your next dish. KIIITV reports that the company recalled 4,702 pounds of beef stew products that were produced on December 13, 2017.
It wasn’t until Christmas Eve that an H-E-B in San Antonio discovered the issue that “…the products may be contaminated with foreign matter, specifically plastic and metal…” when they opened a case to be prepared in store. Other than the 5-pound bags meant for H-E-B grocery store retailer repackaging, The Statesman writes that consumers should look for meat trays with veggies packaged on the side with the number 7231 printed on the side of the tray. These should be tossed out along with “Beef Stew Meat Tenderized RP, Beef Stew Meat RP, Beef Stew Meat VP, Beef Stew Meat-CR VP, Beef Stew Meat Tenderized VP, Beef Stew Meat CP and Beef Stew Kit” with “Est. 7231” or “EST. 3D” on the labels, which also fall under the recall.
At this time, there are no reports of anyone falling ill from the Swift Beef Co. products, but it’s much better to be safe than sorry in the case of food recalls.
