While temperatures are still dipping and peaking with the whim that Texas residents have come to expect, summer really is just around the corner. Of course, spring will come first and get us ready for all the wonderful, warm-weather activities in the Hill Country and all over the state. Think water sports, barbecues, and outdoor music festivals! And for the kiddos, it’s never too early to start thinking about summer camp options. Good summer camps book up quickly, often well before many parents have time to consider the options. Don’t let that be you! Here’s your Texas Hill Country reminder to start the process and to take a look at Mo-Ranch, one of the most exciting camps in the Lone Star State.
We’ve brought you great stories about Mo-Ranch previously, highlighting all the wonderful history, beautiful scenery and landscape, and fun-filled activities one can partake in while at Mo-Ranch. Imagine letting your child experience all of that this summer at a Mo-Ranch day camp or overnight camp. With options for both, the needs of any comfort level and time-commitment can be met.

Since 1977, Mo-Ranch has been a Christian camp that serves kids ages 8-15, utilizing the 5 Cs (Christian Living, Creativity, Critical Thinking, Communication, and Collaboration) in the camp curriculum. But make no mistake, Mo-Ranch is an inclusive organization and welcomes all faiths and backgrounds. Bible study and worship, however, are regular activities that all campers participate in every day. For day campers who don’t plan to spend the night, free transportation is provided from Kerrville, Ingram, and Hunt, or campers can be dropped off on-site.
The list of activities campers can participate in is long and ranges from indoor fun to outdoor adventure. Imagine a day that moves from singing and worship to a late morning nature hike, followed by swimming, kayaking, and games like kickball and quidditch. Then imagine relaxing into the late afternoon and evening with arts and crafts like jewelry-making and ceramics. That evening, satisfy your taste-buds with a delicious outdoor cook-out for dinner! Kids will be excited by the vast number of options from origami and fishing for low-key activities to pool parties, dancing, and even spa time! Activities vary based on the ability and desire of each child as well as weather conditions.

There’s also nothing quite like bonding over a camp-out and talking into the night with bunkmates before drifting off to sleep, tired from a full day of activity. For those who crave an adrenaline rush, Mo-Ranch offer campers the option to swing on the 52′ high Big Gulp or glide down a 480-ft zip line! Imagine the excitement of a teen being able to safely fly down a zip line, their hair blowing in the wind, or go rock-climbing with the support and guidance of camp counselors and staff. Kayaking and water sports are a popular activity at Mo-Ranch, given the beautiful body of water and views that run throughout the property. Check out some of the fun possibilities here in this video created by the Mo-Ranch camp counselors!

A variety of dates are available through the summer for campers, including day camps, week-long long camps, and two week-long camp options. While the standard requirement is a 1:6 ratio of staff to campers, Mo-Ranch sets the bar much higher with their own 1:4 ratio. Ask about their 5% sibling discount rate as well!
