Filmed by the Texas Farm Bureau and posted to their YouTube channel, “Hill Country Sweets | Texas Peaches” features Jimmy Duecker, a Hill Country farmer in the business of producing that summery, sweet, delicious fruit.

His father started their orchard in the 1950s. Now Duecker’s family owns and operates Duecker Orchards in Burg’s Corner, located in Stonewall, Texas. With a variety of locally-grown fresh produce, this particular piece focused on the peach, and its amazing draw in the Texas Hill Country. Filmed in 2015, this short video clip identifies a productive year for peach orchards, similar in nature to this year, when a bumper crop has once again been produced.

The Texas Farm Bureau’s YouTube channel self-identifies as “The Voice of Texas Agriculture.” It features a variety of video clips focusing on all things grown or produced in Texas in a farm-to-table type of fashion. Dixieland, majestic, and redskin are just a few of the varietals of peach which can be found in the Hill Country, and Duecker’s Orchards – Jimmy Duecker, in particular – is a great focus for this theme. Their orchard had approximately 16K peach trees at the time of filming, and Duecker’s pride in his family’s work is clear. Peach preserves, peach ice cream, and even peach salsa are just a handful of the great food products they develop and sell from their orchards. They wisely stick with a Texas tradition that has been continuing for years, drawing thousands to the Hill Country annually for their delicious summer treats!
