Swimmer’s Body Recovered From Hamilton Pool

The body of a swimmer who had not resurfaced from Hamilton Pool on Sunday evening has been found. On October 2, 2016, just before 5 p.m., authorities received reports that a young man had not resurfaced from the deep waters of Hamilton Pool. According to Austin/Travis County EMS’ (ATCEMS) Twitter feed, rescue efforts immediately began Sunday. According to bystanders, the swimmer was last seen at around 4:45 p.m.

Rescue efforts were “transitioned into recovery mode” and the incident was turned over to the Travis County Sheriff’s Office. Monday, October 3, 2016, the swimmer’s body was recovered. The victim is a male and is said to be in his 20s. According to KVUE, the name of the victim has not yet been released as of 10:30 a.m. Monday morning.

Hamilton Pool Preserve is a Hill Country favorite as far as swimming holes are concerned, but please be cautious when going out to enjoy the water. Our thoughts and prayers go out to the victim’s family and friends.
