Who can resist the idea of a beauty falling for a beast? The idea that love can transcend the physical and exist on a deeper plane? The notion that who we are exists within us rather than outside of us, and that others might see and appreciate our inner authentic selves? Beauty and the Beast may be presented as a children’s story, but it speaks to audiences of all ages, and perhaps an adult audience can best understand the message.

In recent years Beauty and the Beast has made a big comeback with a movie reboot with live actors, reviving older versions, including Disney’s animated feature. Now, Austin audiences can see the action unfold before their eyes in real time.

Coming to the Zach Theater Topfer Stage Beauty and the Beast will be in Austin from July 11-September 2. Don’t miss the chance to see this family-friendly show with an all-star cast ready to belt out all of the classic songs you remember and love. “Be Our Guest” and “Tale as Old as Time” are among the sing-along hits audiences will look forward to hearing. The writers have also worked to make the show suitable for children and funny. Audiences are often taken by the egotistical foibles of Gaston, for example. Sitting in the audience might be the next best thing to visiting Disney!
