Evan and Melissa Tate of Rockwall, Texas tied the knot on March 25 of this year, you’re going to wish you scored an invitation to their wedding! With a 700-person guest list, the couple chose to host a Texas state fair-themed reception at a ranch the groom’s family owns, which is as big in acreage as their guest list! Did this function have a name? Funny you should ask! They dubbed it the “Tate Fair of Texas.”

In an interview with the Huffington Post, Mrs. Tate noted, “I have always loved the State Fair of Texas and dreamed of it somehow tying into my wedding day.” And they did it in grand style because everything is bigger in Texas! Transforming the ranch into a fairground complete with tents and twinkle lights, fun fair food, a “Creative Arts Building”, a working Ferris wheel, and even a livestock section, they coordinated their event with the 55th anniversary of the ranch, which has been in Mr. Tate’s family for as many years.

The “Creative Arts Building” was where reception guests could place their entries for art and photo contests (the art being pictures of the couple, each featuring a prize ribbon on them in order to fit in with the theme) and for the food (because we all talk about the food!) guests were treated to brisket nachos, turkey legs, a popcorn bar and, of course, cotton candy. One week prior, the Tates made their vows in a small ceremony outside of the groom’s childhood home in front of approximately 50 family members. The reception was the party they had hoped to throw in celebration of their love, and it went off without a hitch. It was a great way to honor the event which was set in motion after Evan proposed to Melissa at the State Fair of Texas in 2016!
