This is just a preview of the powerful and thought-provoking lyrics from a young and inspiring Christian artist rising to the top of the charts with his soulful and captivating music. Five-time GRAMMY® Award-nominated artist, Tauren Wells, has been gaining momentum with his debut album “Hills and Valleys,” which released on June 23, 2017. Nominated for a GRAMMY Award for Best Contemporary Christian Music Album, his singles from the album, such as “Hills and Valleys,” a piano and cello-driven riveting track climbed to the Top 10 spot on the Christian Airplay radio chart for multiple weeks, according to his website. One of his latest singles, “Known,” has garnered him multiple honors under his belt such as a Billboard Music Award nomination, a GMA Dove Award nomination, and a 2019 GRAMMY nomination for Best Contemporary Christian Music Performance/Song.

In 2020, Wells is set to release his upcoming album “Citizen of Heaven.” This album will continue with his award-winning mix of music, as Wells spins his own unique and personal breath of inspirational genius into each, and every song created to bring out the faith, hope, and love we seek to inspire in our daily routines. “I feel called to call greatness out of people,” Wells shared. This father of three sons, devoted husband, songwriter, worship academy founder, multi-instrumentalist, and performer is on a mission to spread the love of God through his music, and it is apparent throughout his many talents that started a very young age.

At only nine years old, Wells was already laying down the foundation to his musical journey, with ministry factoring in greatly to that equation. “I really just love ministry, honestly. I love music. Music has always been a big part of my life,” shared Wells. “My parents met in musical theater, so they have a love for music. My dad was a church musician for years.” Born in Battle Creek, Michigan, this transplant Texan went on to share how his love for music was cultivated early on. “When I was growing up, my dad always had his friends in and out of the house playing instruments and writing songs. I started singing when I was nine years old in a church choir and just enjoyed it, and it just felt like it was a natural part of life,” exclaimed Wells. “I wasn’t choosing to sing. I just sang. I enjoyed it.”

At 16, Wells shared it was his youth pastor that opened the doors to allow him to lead worship at his church. It was during this time that he began getting serious about playing the piano as his pastor shared he would need to learn how to play an instrument to lead worship. “I fell in love with the ministry side of it and wanted to go to Bible College to develop the ministry part,” shared Wells. It was during his time in school that he had the opportunity to get some songs recorded, which started the ball rolling into the recording side of the business. “It kind of all happened very naturally, but the driver for me has always been in ministry, people, and creativity.” Wells is not only a talented singer/songwriter but also a multi-instrumentalist playing piano, guitar, and the drums, which he admits he likes to keep on the low key. He also currently leads worship regularly at Lakewood Church in Houston.
