The Clovis Police Department in California posted a fantastic and helpful tip for parents to keep their children safe this summer. If you are planning on visiting theme parks, summer fairs, zoos or any other location where children can easily become separated from their guardians, you can give them simple DIY temporary tattoos for identification purposes.

Clovis Police Department’s instructions are as follows: “Write your phone number on their wrist and cover it with liquid band aid in case you get separated. Also, take a photo of them using your cell phone the morning of the event so you have their clothing, hair style, and up to date photo. #BePrepared”

Facebook viewers shared the post well over 23,000 times and reacted around 8,000 times. Many comments expressed relief over an alternative to a lanyard or even a “leash” for their free-spirited children. One commenter added that it is best not to write the child’s name as an unsavory person could use it to lure the child into thinking that they are safe.

At the end of the day’s adventures, the “tattoo” easily washes off, but there is no guarantee your child won’t want to create even more temporary tattoos just for fun!
