Hemisfair Park: Best Park for Fun and Games

Located at 434 S. Alamo Street in the heart of downtown San Antonio, this park was created with families in mind. Hemisfair Park has a garden playground, splash pad, giant sandbox and gaming areas with oversized chess and checker sets. Other attractions close to this park are the Institute of Texan Cultures, Magik Theater, and the Tower of Americas where the World’s Fair in 1968 was held. www.hemisfair.org

San Antonio Botanical Garden: Best Park for Natural (and Man-made) Beauty

Located at 555 Funston Place in the beautiful San Antonio, Texas, this park was opened in 1980 with 38 acres to inspire people to connect to the plant world. This beautiful park has roses and succulents fern grotto. A special attraction is exhibiting now: Story Book Houses which opened in March and remains open until July. There are five playhouses for display: Jack and the Beanstalk and Dr. Seuss’ “Oh the Places You’ll Go” just to name a few. www.sabot.org

Woodlawn Park: Best Park for a Day at the Pool

Located at 1103 Cincinnati Avenue, this park is the best park for a day at the pool. It has four pools that are open from May until September each year. It also has a 1.5 mile walk around a man-made pool with a lighthouse in the middle where you can enjoy fishing and the atmosphere of a beautiful park. Phil Hardberger Park: Best Park for Dogs

Located at 8400 N.W. Military Hwy, on the northwest side of San Antonio, this park is known for the best park for your four-legged friend. Phil Harderger Park is located on 311 acres of land and has five miles of walking trails and a 1.8 acre doggie playhouse. In 2007, a bond was approved to restore a homestead, milking barn and old stone house believed to have existed in the Battle of the Alamo.  www.pilhardbergerpark.org

Denman Estate Park: Best Park for Discovering a Hidden Gem

Located at 7735 Mockingbird Lane in northwest San Antonio by the medical center area, Denman Estate Park is best known for discovering a hidden gem. This park is located on 12.52 acres and has a pond, half-mile walking trail, Southern-style mansion, Korean Pagoda, and a small meditation garden as well as picnic tables.  www.sanantonio.gov/parksandrec
