WalletHub, a personal finance website also known for its consumer and market reporting, recently ranked Plano, Texas sixth overall in the “2018’s Best Places to Find a Job” listing. So, while the U.S. job market may be on an upswing, it’s apparent this North Texas city’s isn’t that far behind it.

In the most recent jobs report by the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics, the national unemployment rate has dropped to 4.1 percent, which is a 17-year low. In the meantime, hiring is on the uptick. College graduates, in particular, can anticipate a big improvement in their potential job opportunities as a result. And, it’s been noted by the National Association of Colleges and Employers that employers are planning to hire four percent more Class of 2018 members than they have from the prior graduating year.

The cities of Austin, Irving, Grand Prairie and Amarillo also ranked 11th, 23rd, 38th, and 39th, respectively, in the “2018’s Best Places to Find a Job” listing, with Garland, Dallas, and San Antonio also ranking within the top third of the entire study. Out of 180 American cities reviewed over 26 indicators, Chandler, Arizona was identified as the top city. WalletHub compared the cities for indicators of job-market strength, and the key aspects included things such as employment growth, number and type of job opportunities, and monthly averages in starting salary, ranking the cities in the categories of “Job Market” and “Socio-Economic” determinations.
