TCR Reveals the Best Texas Bakery
Texas Country Reporter is breaking down another “Texas Best”, and this time, they’re looking at the best bakeries in the state. TCR put out a poll asking residents what the best Texas bakery is. Well, the results are in, and it looks like these three bakeries are the most ideal places for grabbing a pastry.
The third place spot goes to Naegelin’s Bakery in New Braunfels, Texas. Naegelin’s Bakery touts themselves as the oldest continuously operating bakery in the state, going all the way back to 1868. The family-owned shop offers fresh cookies, pastries, pies, and cakes, and are famous for their strudels.
Coming in at second place is Collin Street Bakery in Corsicana, Texas (though they have four locations in the state). Another family-owned-and-operated shop, Collin Street is well-known for their signature DeLuxe Texas Fruitcake and their Pecan Cake. The family recipes come all the way from Germany and have remained the same over the years. Each holiday season, one-and-a-half million orders are placed for their famous fruitcake.
The top spot, as voted by Texas residents on TCR, goes to road stop favorite Czech Stop, located in West, Texas. This bakery has a wide array of kolaches, from cream cheese to apricot. Their number one seller has remained the same over the years — the sausage and cheese. Czech Shop is open 24 hours a day for the people traveling on I-35.
