Taking place on the Texas Gulf Coast May 11 – 13 (Mother’s Day Weekend, for those looking to take her out for a great time on the town), the 33rd annual Texas Crab Festival will be happening at Gregory Park in Crystal Beach! If you love seafood, great music, and a fun festival atmosphere, you need not look any further than this one-of-a-kind event.

Celebrating Texas music, art, and, of course, crabs, this wonderful annual affair boasts contests, carnival rides, games, and great prizes out on the Bolivar Peninsula. Festival-goers can enjoy succulent fresh seafood fare at a variety of concessions. These include such delectable dishes as crab-stuffed jalapenos (mmm, this is so tasty!) and crab nachos, and you never have to worry that your love of these critters is out of style! You’ll be among good company with the many Texans and visitors to our great state who make the trip to Crystal Beach for that shared purpose at an event called one of the country’s “10 Best Food Festivals to Dive Into” by USA Today!

An amazing Crab Gumbo Cook Off kicks the Texas Crab Festival into high gear early on Saturday, May 12, where teams fight for top honors. The proceeds benefit military veterans and their families at the Lone Survivor Foundation’s Crystal Beach Retreat. This year’s music lineup is also loaded with great Texas favorites, with shows beginning Friday, May 11 at 6:00 p.m. There’s even a Two-Step Dance Contest for those who love to shuffle with their sweetie to some Texas honky-tonk! For more details on the lineup, genres, and entertainment times, visit the Texas Crab Festival website at the link provided here.

You and your family will also be able to shop at more than 60 vendors with coastal art and crafts, clothing, furniture, jewelry, and gift wares available. As well, a variety of businesses and local organizations from the Texas Gulf Coast will be on hand, showcasing the great local lifestyle – including car, boat, and RV shows, not to mention the “Harley-Davidson Jump-Start Experience” ride simulator! However, let’s get back to the real reason we’re looking forward to gathering here – the crabs!

Kids will definitely enjoy the Crab Races. The whole family can enjoy the Crab Legs Contest, and the crab-themed games (which this festival is loaded with) will keep you going well through the entire weekend! Also, there’s a 5K/1K Crab Run/Walk, a scavenger hunt, washer-toss and cornhole tournaments, and the chance to win a golf cart and even a Carnival Cruise for two! Since 2013, this tremendous Texas experience has been able to grant more than $300,000 toward youth camps, scholarships, and community outreach activities which help to improve the lives of area families. All of it has been made possible by generous local sponsors and partners, as well as a solid crew of Texas volunteers. Enjoy the Texas Crab Festival in Crystal Beach, May 11 – 13, where admission is $10, kids under 15 get in free, and practically nobody is crabby (in the traditional sense of the word!).
