Seventeen Texas food banks benefitted from special truckload deliveries of Select Ingredients Quick Oats oatmeal from H-E-B this holiday season. The deliveries were part of the company’s ongoing commitment to fight against hunger in local communities. According to Danny Flores, H-E-B senior manager of public affairs, “One in six Texans struggle to avoid hunger, including one in four Texas children. As the largest food retailer in the state, it is our mission to give back to communities in need and make every effort to ensure families don’t go hungry this holiday season.”

Throughout Texas this holiday season, H-E-B delivered the oatmeal truckloads to provide Texas families with 2.9 million meals. Through the company’s Food Bank Assistance Program, the food donations assisted food banks which are affiliated with Feeding America, recognized as the leading domestic hunger-relief organization in America. Working year-round to fight hunger and raise awareness about the issue, the H-E-B Food Bank Assistance Program was founded in 1982 and is recognized nationally for its monthly food deliveries as well as the financial donations it makes to food banks in Mexico and Texas – the prominent markets for its grocery store chain.

A superb part of a heart-healthy diet as well as a great source of fiber, the H-E-B Select Ingredients Quick Oats oatmeal can help kickstart a family’s day both deliciously and nutritiously. As part of a grouping of products which have zero artificial ingredients (i.e. high fructose corn syrup, or artificial flavors and colors,) this H-E-B Select Ingredients product can go a long way towards feeding a family healthy, wholesome food. Each of the Texas food banks in receipt of the deliveries received over 8,640 boxes of oatmeal or 259,200 bowls of the cereal.
