The luster and lore of the pink granite dome that is known as Enchanted Rock are legendary in the Texas Hill Country. It covers 640 acres in area and rises 425 feet, which makes it the perfect place to watch the sunrise. Plan according to weather and trail opening of course, but you won’t regret it.

Austin public T.V. station, KLRU-TV, developed the Austin City Limits show in 1974, and it’s been the longest running music program in US history, since broadcasting on several dozen American stations. Tickets for the show are only provided via lottery system online at www.acltv.com, however. If you’re lucky enough to win seats, a visit to the Moody Theater enables you to attend a free taping of a two-hour performance.

That enduring symbol of Texas resilience really is an absolute must on your itinerary! If you tour the Texas Hill Country and don’t make a stop here, you’re missing something. Its present-day peacefulness belies the 13-day battle that ensued here, and it would be a crime to make it to the area and overlook the historic opportunity.
