Making a Forever Texas Home for a Rescue or Shelter Dog at Christmas
1. Pug Rescue of Austin

Pug Rescue of Austin is a nonprofit 501c3 group that rescues, and places abused, neglected, and unwanted pugs specifically. If you’re in the market for this particular breed, you might want to check them out!
2. Montgomery County Animal Shelter

Although this particular pooch was adopted on November 28 of this year, the Montgomery County Animal Shelter does its utmost to ensure short stays, healthy dogs for families, and great adoption practices.
3. Marley’s Mutts Dog Rescue

As their website explains, they handle “…all breeds, all creeds.” Marley’s Mutts Dog Rescue is a non-profit group that “…rescues, rehabilitates, trains and re-homes death row dogs from Kern County’s high-kill animal shelters.”
4. Texas Cattle Dog Rescue

This dog here, known as “Slash,” was adopted from the Texas Cattle Dog Rescue after being rescued from a shelter where he had been picked up as a stray, with a large gash in his chest. The TCDR repaired his wounds and healed him up, not to mention, found him a great new home. And, they do this for a number of great pooches just like him! Their website explains that TCDR is “…a non-profit, 501(c)(3) animal welfare organization dedicated to rescuing Australian Cattle Dogs from city and county shelters throughout Texas.”
5. MuttNation Foundation

The brainchild of country superstar Miranda Lambert, together with her mom Bev, MuttNation Foundation works to “…shine the spotlight on rescue animals and shelters…to ensure that as many dogs as possible would have a safe and happy place to call home.” Check out their website for details on adoption policies and processes.
