Texas Man & 3 Children Escape Alleged Murder/Kidnapping Plot by Fake CPS Worker

By  |

Claiming to be from Child Protective Services, a man made his way into a southeast Texas family’s home. According to the Liberty County Sheriff’s Office, on July 14, the fake CPS worker came to the home and demanded that the father turn over his three kids. Reports have alleged that the man’s intention was to kill the father and kidnap his family.

The fearful attack took place on what should have been a quiet, peaceful afternoon. The father and his three children backed into a bedroom as the fake CPS worker screamed at them. The family told the authorities that he charged at them and threatened to kill the father and take his children.

The Sheriff’s office stated that the dad acted to protect his family by pulling a gun and firing four rounds into the ground, which sent the suspect running. Deputies noted that the family then fled the home to call for assistance via 911 at a neighbor’s house across the street. As a result, Jimmy Dwayne Lackey, 37 years of age, is presently being held in the Liberty County Jail. He was arrested while walking down the street, and the victim was able to point him out. The suspect resisted arrest (for which he was charged), and his felony charges include burglary of a habitation with intent to commit felony kidnapping.
