Texas Panhandle Wildfire Video Shows Wide Swath of Destruction About to Take Place

In a video shared by KAMR Local 4 News on their Facebook page, wildfires happening between Fritch and Amarillo in the Texas Panhandle yesterday (March 6) saw blinding smoke rising high up into the sky and spread out for miles ahead of the flames as emergency crews awaited further direction from their patrol positions ahead of the blaze.

The video, shot by Heath Dodgen, was shared by the local news channel and NBC affiliate, clearly showing the wide swath of destruction the wildfires were wreaking, while the sound of strong winds, no doubt fueling the fires, can be heard throughout the length of the recording. With high winds, an open path, and dry grasses to continue fueling the flames, Texas emergency crews would clearly have their hands full with this wildfire.

The post was dated March 6, 2017, and was followed immediately by a number of comments identifying current pictures and reports matching where and when the wildfires were taking place. A scourge in Texas, particularly across the Panhandle, wildfires can be devastating at best when grasslands are ahead and high winds come behind. Thankfully, state emergency crews are well trained on effectively dealing with them, as well as the proper processes for safely evacuating residents and managing traffic situations if need be.
