Spreading the word that life’s #betteroutside is the job of the Texas Parks and Wildlife Department, and if that sounds like it might align with something you’d like to do, the chance to be a Texas State Parks Ambassador in the Houston/Coastal region is happening now!

Applications are being accepted until February 1, 2018, for the chance to become a team member, grow as a parks leader, and show some love to a Texas state park. The Texas State Parks Ambassador Program works to connect young adults who are interested in conservation with volunteer and recreation opportunities that will develop the future generation of state park stewards. Beginning in 2013, the program was designed to bring youth outdoors while inspiring them to visit local parks and become actively involved in their communities. Three times each year, the Texas Parks and Wildlife Department chooses a small group of motivated young leaders to attend regional leadership training and become volunteers at a local state park with the intent of completing three projects over the course of six months.

Applicants for this excellent opportunity to support Texas, state parks, and conservation as a whole should be between the ages of 18 and 30, be a high school graduate, presently reside in Texas (preferably in the current focus area) and have a reliable means of transportation to a nearby state park. After completing the training, the Texas State Parks Ambassadors commit to completing three park projects in outreach, social media, and service.
