Things You Should Never Say to Your Texas Mom (or Any Mom)

In the grand scheme of things, “Mom” has been there through thick and thin. She’s helped you get through life’s conundrums and made sure you stuck to the straight and narrow. Now why on Earth would you think it was okay to speak your mind to her? Just kidding, but here’s a little tip: try not to tick off your Texas mom (or any mom, for that matter!) Here are a few things you should refrain from saying to your mother dearest:

1. My Mother-In-Law Sure Knows How to Cook!

This will wind up with the silent treatment – AT BEST. Worst-case scenario, you’ll need to do some fast talking and some heavy praise at the dinner table in short order.

2. Haven’t You Done My Laundry Yet?

Child please: first off, your mother has been washing your dirty socks and underwear plus your father’s for probably the past two decades. If you’ve learned nothing yet about sorting, stain removal, and how to fill a washing machine, buy a “For Dummies” book and get a move on!

3. You Look Exhausted!

Your mother has worked hard all day – be it at her place of employment, taking care of the house, or taking care of other people’s houses for Pete’s sake! When she could probably use a meal that’s cooked by someone other than her, a glass of good Texas wine, and maybe even a stogie, the last thing she wants to hear from you is the truth!

4. My Girlfriend’s Pregnant (Not Even as a Joke!)

Don’t even go there. Enough said.

5. I’m Not Going to College. I Want to Find Myself.
